What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a process in which an individual is put into an altered state of consciousness, which occurs naturally, where suggestions and variables are introduced in a process to help effect or alter beliefs, habits, perceptions or behaviors.

How is hypnosis induced?

Hypnosis is most often induced by a gradual relaxation method through guided imagery and/or scripts. There are many ways to induce hypnosis, but this is the most common and the one that is used by I Vow To Be.

Can hypnosis make people do or say things that they don’t want to?

No!  The misconceptions and sensationalizing of stage hypnosis has caused a misunderstanding of the practice.  A person will not say or do anything under hypnosis that they would not normally say or do while fully awake.  You will be fully aware the entire session.

Will I remember the session?

Most people recall the session in entirety.  However, because hypnosis takes you to an altered state that is similar to that of the state between awake and asleep, some may forget bits and pieces.  This is all dependent on how deep of a trance the individual experiences, among other factors.  Please discuss with the hypnotherapist if there are any concerns.

How long are the sessions and how many will I need?

The sessions can last from 35-60 minutes most of the time.  This is dependent on what is being addressed as well as how long it takes to achieve relaxation.  How many follow up sessions is also determined on an individual basis.  This will be discussed in your first session so that expectation of results is adequately managed.

What is the cost for a hypnotherapy session?

Sessions range from $80 to $130 per session, depending on the nature and length of the visit.  The majority are $80 per individual session.  You will know before the session what your charge will be.  There are also some programs that give a discount based on the need for several or more sessions, such as the smoking cessation or weight loss program offered.  Please call for more information about these programs.

Is hypnotherapy covered by insurance?

Hypnotherapy is covered by many insurance companies.  It usually only covers a percentage of the cost and may require you to go to a specific, in-network practitioner.  I Vow To Be will furnish you with the receipts necessary to submit to your Insurance company for reimbursement, but does not directly bill the company for you.   

It is the client’s responsibility to check with their provider to find out if they cover the service.
